Dana Jacobs has been a Registered Nurse for 22 years and a Certified Nurse Midwife for 15 of those years. Born and raised in New York City, Dana graduated from The City University of New York at Queens College with a degree in Education and English. After a brief time teaching she went back to school to become a Registered Nurse. It was during her time as a cancer nurse at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center that she realized she wanted to work with women and their families. “I vividly remember the moment I made this decision. I was caring for a young man who was terminal. When he died, his mother, who wouldn’t leave his side, just repeated over and over again, “my baby, my baby.” The next day I quit my job. Shortly after, I started working as a labor and delivery nurse and immediately knew that I was home. Becoming a Midwife just made sense. It was the best decision I ever made. Caring for woman during pregnancy and through the life cycle is the most exciting and gratifying work I can imagine. There is nothing more beautiful than watching a mothers face as you place her baby in her arms for the very first time."
Dana has been a Certified Nurse Midwife with ObGyn Specialists for 13 years. She lives in South Florida with her husband and 2 children. She enjoys, traveling, reading, and her family.
