Breast Health Specialist
What will the nurse practitioner do for me?
- A Clinical Breast Examination by a healthcare practitioner is recommended every year. For some women, it may be needed more than once a year.
- Your breast exam will probably be unlike you have ever received. It will be very detailed and comprehensive and examine every aspect of your breasts.
- Breast Self Examination (BSE) techniques will be shown and reviewed.
- Discussion of mammogram or ultrasound results will occur after the exam:
- Results before you leave the center if Dr. Simon is in house.
- Results later in the day if Dr. Simon is not in the office.
- Yanick can consult with Dr. Simon at any time.
- Order additional tests if needed- Breast Ultrasound.
- Coordinate plan of care if you need referrals to breast surgeon, MRI’s, etc.
What are the charges?
- If you are in for a screening mammogram you can have an expedited result the same day. There is a $50 cash counseling fee due at the time of your visit. A small number of insurance carriers will cover this service. We will submit the bill to your insurance carrier and if they make a payment, then your $50 will be refunded.
- If you are in for a diagnostic mammogram or breast ultrasound we strongly recommend that you consider this service. It is generally covered by insurance, so no payment is necessary at the time of the visit if you have insurance coverage. The visit will be billed to your insurance carrier.
How long is the exam?
- The exam, education, and counseling usually take approximately 15 minutes but may vary depending on each patient’s needs.
What are the examiner’s credentials?
- Yanick is a board certified nurse practitioner that has over twenty years experience in women’s health. She is a certified clinical breast examiner who has attended the most rigorous training to get that certification.
- She has worked personally with Dr. Simon and has been trained by him to provide this exceptional service.
